Ten skeleton key charms made of lead-free sturdy zinc alloy metal. Size is about .75″ long, including the connector ring at the top. Key charms are have black etching, so it is not a bright shiny silver. It is a little darker, closer to the way the light reflects off of hematite. I’ve been on hiatus, but not really- I just started a kimono blog to better to put focus on all the Japanese stuff that I talk about incessantly. I’m still working on layout and stuff, but it’s all about culture, stories, history, and especially kimono! Bebe Taian is up and updating frequently.

With my return to doing… stuff… this upcoming year, I wanted to host an end of the year BLAWG SALE!

Here’s how it works.

- The Stuff:

I’m going to post photos of stuff I have for sale along with details and price. Some of it could be posted on Etsy, some of it can’t be for whatever reason. And posting on Etsy can cost a lot of money. Since the point of all of this is to make some holiday cash, I don’t want to be pouring all I make back into a site that f*****ed up the checkout process (along with a bunch of other things) while everyone is trying to shop. I’m also able to take stuff off of Etsy if you don’t have/want an account to purchase the item. If you DO have an Etsy account, I’d be happy to make you a custom listing!

- Payment and Shipping:

I accept Paypal and Money Orders. Money Orders have to clear before I can ship anything, so I prefer Paypal, please. I may also be open to trades for things that are not jewellery, but only if I have an immediate use for the item. Please understand that if I don’t trade, it isn’t personal- I just don’t have a use for that item in the next three weeks.

WordPress doesn’t allow for Paypal buttons, but you can message me by leaving a comment here or on any post, by Convoing me at NigatsuBebe, or e-mailing me at nigatsu_bebe at! yahoo dot com, and I can invoice you for multiple items and calculate shipping.

Shipping is $6 or less so long as I can fit everything into a small flat-rate Priority Mail box or other small envelope. I recommend making all purchases at least one week before Christmas. I ship everything with Delivery Confirmation, but you are free to request Insurance (recommended) for $1 for every $50 purchased.

Pumpkin Cookies!

I wish I could find my original recipe, but those turned out to be pretty moist and fell apart anyways. Tasted the best, but too moist.

This is my current recipe:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup ground flax seed
2 heaping spoonfuls of wheat germ
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon ginger powder
2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups turbinado sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
15oz canned pumpkin puree
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons irish creme coffee creamer

Blend all in a large mixing bowl until smooth. Spoon out into small flattened balls. Bake at 325 for about 15mins until bottoms are browned. Take them off the tray and let them cool. Meanwhile, you can melt down a cup of white chocolate chips with 2 tablespoons each of irish creme coffee creamer and milk. Do this in a double boiler, or improvise by putting a microwave-safe bowl in a pot of water on low heat. Stir this well and drizzle over the cookies when they’re cool.

The November Stock Up Sale and Craigslist

I’ve been posting more and more items on Craigslist. I seem to get about as many views as on Etsy, and about as much money. I’ll still be listing on Etsy though!

This month I renewed a few things on NigatsuBebe, and a whole bunch including some NEW items on BebeVintage. Of course, simply messaging me or leaving a comment directly is always an option for items if you don’t want to make an Etsy account. However, having an Etsy account allows you to leave feedback, so it is always suggested. Check out the new stuff below!

BOOKS:

- Scrapbooking Your Favorite Family Memories, a whopping 510 pages of full-colour photographs and page ideas, it’s bigger than my phonebook!

- Beaded Jewelry with Found Objects, by Carole Rodgers; some interesting ideas regarding buttons, perfume bottles, and sea glass.

- Designer Style Jewelry, Sherri Haab; some beginners’ basics and a whole lot of fun project ideas for any skill level.

- The Art of Making Jewelry, a nearly 300-page full-colour book of sophisticated and upscale ideas, including tutorials on the basics and pages to copy for paper bead-making!

Some assorted beading and jewellery magazines are on hand as well, but I’ll have to look up what editions and titles are available.

LACE AND TRIM:

Piles of lace and trim are up for grabs! I’m thinking of listing the pieces as lots instead of individually. Flat laces, gathered laces, and various ribbons and trims are available, both new and vintage.

FABRIC:

Yep, more fabric. As much as I love the fabrics I’ve chosen to buy, and as many projects as I would love to make with them, I just don’t have the resources to complete the desired projects. My sewing machine needs repairs that would cost as much as a new machine, and I need hardware for the projects themselves. It’s expensive, and money is the thing I don’t have. So, off it goes!

SCRAPBOOKING:

Assorted ephemera from vintage books, naturally yellowed, some die cuts, chipboard pieces, and of course, yarns, trims, and papers are all for sale. Another hobby I loved but don’t have the talent or resources for! Sometimes I get inspiration to make something, but that hasn’t hit me in awhile. I’m also not a big picture-taker.

BEADS:

LOTS OF THEM! So many that I never got to list because they came with me to the festivals. I’m also dropping the prices on some others for the November Stock-Up Sale.

KIMONO:

These aren’t going up on BebeVintage. Some won’t even make it to NigatsuBebe because they are too new. BUT I am selling many, many, MANY authentic Japanese kimono and all the accessories to go with them, including the beaded haori himo I started making years ago. They have recently become popular with Mamechiyo, the KimonoHIME kimono stylist. She’s really famous in the kimono world! Unfortunately, her shop only sells to Japanese residents. Don’t worry- I’ll ship most places in the world.

So, for a long time, it was no work, no money, lots of things to do because when you have no money, you must put in more effort to daily doings to save money. Like spending an hour looking at all the area sale ads and comparing prices on things you will actually eat, then shopping for them (preferably at the store which will accept any price from a competitors’ sale ad), plus errands for family and my husband and such. And housecleaning. A lot of housecleaning.

Also, I have been making new items for the upcoming show. I only have two boxes full of my work- not NEARLY enough to fill 100sq. ft! Of course, I know that much of the space will be used for people to come in and have room to move comfortably, but I need a LOT more inventory! I need larger items, and that means knitting. I need to get back to knitting. I’m thinking maybe more cute boucle or acrylic scarves- especially acrylic, since the challenge to this festival is that everything has to be vegan-friendly.

At the same time, I have been aggressively job-hunting. I need money to get supplies for the festival, and we aren’t making ends meet as it is. Also, I have been buying up kimono items when I can so that I can resell them to local restaurants and people interested in Japanese antiques and Asian-inspired displays.

Now, I am in training for a Census-related job. Including travel time, it’s 10 hours a day. Then I have house-related duties, needy cat-related duties, cooking duties, and trying to find energy just to shower and make dinner. I have problems with chronic fatigue as it is. It’s like I’m either doing it all or I’m not doing anything!

As of right now, I’m renewing an item or two a month on Etsy until the show in October is over. That way I’ll have plenty of inventory on hand and won’t unnecessarily spend extra cash for item listings that won’t get seen online that week.

And now back to cooking while cleaning the living room, mentally inventory-ing stuff to make, and “finding” fun new cat-related messes. x.x
